Hello from London!

After two and a half years living and working in Amsterdam, I’m back in London having taken up a communications role at Queen Mary University.

I’ve learned so much during my time in Amsterdam and am so grateful for all the opportunities I was given.

Working behind the scenes at Eurovision was a real privilege; I learned so much and had the chance to work with so many professionals.

My job took me to places that I’d never been before and whilst often challenging, no day was the same. Why leave then? Good question!

Time to say goodbye

When I was offered the position in London, it was too good an opportunity to turn down. It’s as simple as that.

I think it’s better to leave a party whilst you’re having a good time and that’s how I felt about my role at Scrn (the digital partner of the Eurovision Family of Events).

On a personal level, living and working in The Netherlands was a brilliant experience in many ways, and one that I will always be glad I had, but I did miss friends and family.

See you in Lisbon!

I’ll be travelling to Lisbon in May and I’m looking forward to seeing my old team, but I’m also looking forward to being able to experience it as a man of leisure and return to my media work.

Whilst I did enjoy working behind the scenes, it was absolutely exhausting! I wish people knew how hard the team work, maybe they would be a little more gracious on social media… But that’s another story for another time!

Host broadcaster RTP have done an amazing job so far and I have no doubt that the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest will be up there with the best!

See you in Lisbon!
